About

The Observable Universe: The Edges of What We See is a group of visualisations created with Tableau and Unity intended to provide a glimsp into the furthest reaches of our observations of space. These visualisations were then as part of a school project on data visualisation, and are part of other groups of visualisations about space done by my other group members.

The most challenging part of the project was creating the Unity visualisation (thumbnail). I had always felt a sense of awe about the size of the universe and how incomprehensible it is for us, so for this visualisation, I wanted to convey this to the user and allow them to visualise the scale of the largest objects known to humans. To achieve this, I wanted to allow the users to be able to zoom in and out, similar to how existing visualisations of the size of objects are shown. As much as possible, the scale of the objects within Unity had to be accurate with each other as well.
